You wake up late, the washing machine pump is blocked, the dog rolls in something noxious on the way back from the school run and work calls asking you to come in early.

Anybody else enjoying the start to their week?

I'm loving it. Recently started a new job which is a gazillion times better than my old one. And today is one of my days off, I'm lying in bed listening to birdsong, contemplating another cup of tea.
I bloody love Mondays 😊

MrsPussinBoots · 23/09/2019 09:09

I made a lovely packed lunch this morning with all my favourites... and left it at home (an hour away).

DioneTheDiabolist · 23/09/2019 09:10

DS1 school called. He arrived okay, but it's a staff day.Blush

Monkeybunkey · 23/09/2019 09:13

I went out for a "couple" of lunchtime drinks yesterday and had far too much on an empty stomach, didn't make any lunch for today and now have the shits after yesterday's excesses. Happy Monday!

Grannybags · 23/09/2019 09:15

Four words - tissue in washing machine!!

Exploitedteadrinker · 23/09/2019 09:15

ssd that sounds lovely. I am also in a new role, which I am enjoying immensely so going into work early is the least onerous part of my Monday so far

I don't mind Mondays but I was woken up at 6.30 by the workmen starting on my drive! To be fair they have to put in an extra long day today due to the crap weather forecast for the rest of this week but 6.30am is too bloody early!

IamEarthymama · 23/09/2019 09:17

I know it's Monday because I have to get up and walk on a very painful leg
I tore the meniscus in my knee a few weeks ago, it's been slowly healing but set off an arthritic flare up that has been dreadful.

I went to a wedding on Saturday.
There was a disco.
My knee is so painful today, not as bad as when I first hurt it but still enough to make me limp.

I just can't resist 80s music!

BigStripeyBastard · 23/09/2019 09:18

I have a man upstairs servicing my boiler. This is literally the most exciting thing that has happened in this house in weeks 😁

Exploitedteadrinker · 23/09/2019 09:19

grannybags full load here, still draining the water out. Anyone want to take bets about what stuck in the filter? It's not a work load, so it won't be a screwdriver or screws for a change I'm hoping for loose change, but I bet its lego.

DT's full day at nursery and both scream and cling to my legs when I drop them off and I feel shit leaving them crying to enjoy a day at home by myself doing jobs and drinking hot cups of tea! And peeing in peace Confused

BillywigSting · 23/09/2019 09:22

Dp is potentially handing in his resignation today because someone far junior to him who does far less work is being paid considerably more.

His place have been taking the piss with him for a few years now (he basically does the job of two people is utterly exhausted) but I think finding out that tidbit of information might just have been the straw that broke the camles back.

He's speaking to his boss today so could well be the start of a new beginning today.

I not long started a new job too and I don't have to leave for another hour, and can come home for lunch, but it does involve dealing with some occasionally aggressive patients so swings and roundabouts. I don't hate it which is an improvement.

MrsMozartMkII · 23/09/2019 09:29

I hope Monday improves all round!

Exploitedteadrinker · 23/09/2019 09:40

BillywigSting that sounds awful and so demoralising. My DH is in a similar job situation, been there for years, always overlooked for promotion (which, tbf, he doesn't really want, but some acknowledgement of his experience and loyalty would be welcome), but thinks he would be unemployable elsewhere, because of his age. I hope your DH has a positive outcome with his boss today, or gets the mental boost he needs to make a good decision for you all.

IamEarthymama fellow 80s music fan and wedding dancer with dodgy knees here. Feel your pain. Hope it mends and eases soon.

Iwillbemrsminty it will pass, my 8 year old DTs skipped off without a goodye this morning so I had to shout "I wuv you loads" across the playground at them Grin. Enjoy your peace and quiet, you deserve it

DD cried all the way to school because she apparently hates school now, then fell flat on her face which of course made her feel ten times worse.

confusedofengland · 23/09/2019 10:03

I forgot half the things I needed on the school run this morning Hmm Then arrived nice & early at the shop I need to go to, only to find it doesn't open until 10.

On the plus side, a midday assistant at my sons' school stopped to compliment me on their behaviour Smile I also managed to persuade myself just to get a (free with stickers) coffee at McDonald's while I wait for the shop to open, rather than the Bacon McMuffin breakfast I was eyeing up I have PMT so that's a big win

TheStakeIsNotThePower · 23/09/2019 10:04

Kids all at school, sun shining, was going for lazy morning before a nap before work tonight but realised the reading I've been putting off for a course in Thursday needs doing because I'm on nights until then so now is the only time I have.

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 23/09/2019 10:22

I'm in bed feeling sorry for myself, pulled a sickie as I'm full of cold and generally feeling crap.

Iwillbemrsminty · 23/09/2019 10:26

@Exploitedteadrinker that is so good to hear!! 2y 9m in and still waiting for it to 'get easier'Confused I am however enjoying my hot cup of tea and toast!

cantfindausername2 · 23/09/2019 10:33

I went to get my car serviced. I stepped outside to make a call. I obviously didn't see that the glass was a wall and not doors and walked into it nose first, knocking myself out. Blood gushed as i lay on the floor in shock in front of other waiting customers and staff. I'm pretty sure my nose is broken. The only thing worse than the pain is the mortification at waiting for my car covered in blood while everyone else pretends it didn't happen.

The only bonus was the kind staff who pushed my service to the top as my car was ready first.

Florencenotflo · 23/09/2019 10:47

I'm eating dairy milk at 10:45 in the morning.

Dd (3.5) returned from a lovely week camping with my parents. I'm very grateful to them, she had a lovely time, but was obviously not told no and allowed to rule the roost for the whole week. So now she is home and is having to go back to having 'rules' she's not too happy... understandably. I've made her go for a nap in the hopes she wakes up happier! It's been a long morning!

I also have a newborn, who right now is the easy one!

RoseMartha · 23/09/2019 10:54

You wake up with the cold the kids have had all weekend and you have a busy day ahead and feel rubbish

Exploitedteadrinker · 23/09/2019 11:30

Iwillbemrsminty never easier, just new and exciting challenges!

cantfindausername2 you have definitely had the worst Monday. I don't know about the positives of having your service bumped, surely they should be arranging paramedics at the very least? Complete a h&s form and get medical attention pronto!

Florencenotflo I'd have been on the Dairy Milk at 8am, if there was any in the house. Fingers crossed that DD has woken in a happier and more amenable frame of mind.

My gorgeous client has apologised for calling me in when I had a domestic disaster to manage and is plying me with strong coffee. My day has improved considerably Grin

"Exploitedteadrinker" - they very muvh wanted either an ambulance or to drive me to the hospital. I just wanted to wait for the car. I did see a DR and had an xray.

Sounds like many different Mondays happening.

cantfindausername2 · 23/09/2019 12:48

Sorry i don't know how to quote.
