How much for a decent camera?

I'm tired of photos from my phone not being brilliant. Can anyone recommend me their camera? I'm not sure of budget. Basically I'm willing to spend whatever I need to for decent but not professional level standards. I'm also aware that no camera can make up for someone who just isnt very good!

That's a how long is a piece of string question. Do you want an SLR or a compact? Might be easiest deciding on a budget and then working back to what's available in your price range.

G7x is a decent point and shoot

I have a couple of decent cameras at home as live photography but 99% of the time I use my phone, I have a huwaui and the camera is amazing, I find it hard to tell the photos apart from my cameras once I down load them and I always have my phone with me.
