Slatted bed base - how to minimise dirt/dust?

We have several IKEA beds where the mattress is on a slatted base. If you have one you will know what I’m talking about and the fact that the mattress does not fit totally flush to the slats so that there are gaps where dust and fluff, such as cat fur, can drop between the mattress and the slats meaning I have to vacuum out the underbed drawers every few days. Does IKEA sell (I can't find it if they do) something to cover the gaps or has anyone got a way to stop this happening? Thank you.

Put a sheet between the base and the mattress? That can be taken out carefully evernow and again and washed.

Or use masking tape around the edges of the base.

Personally I use zip boxes under the bed, so something with a lid on. I take this out weekly for cleaning under and I vacuum the top of the lid too. It takes seconds. We don’t have cats though. The lid seems to be the way.
