Money spiders

tryingoutgreyhair · 22/09/2019 08:15

I've had three money spiders crawling over my hand in three different locations. So I bought £10 of lottery tickets yesterday.

Not a bean... I feel a bit disappointed actually

Now I'm wondering if money spiders think I smell nice or something

Did you spin them around your head 3 times? That’s what you have to do!

Inforthelonghaul · 22/09/2019 08:19

Don’t know but I’ve got three of those money plants around the house and they’ve sadly been equally useless at actually producing money:(

SamBeckett · 22/09/2019 12:37

Aren't they meant to voluntary walk across your right palm.
Also it they had not walked on you you may of lost money (lost your purse, been give wrong change etc ) so maybe they work on preventative measures as well.

Thanks for the replies!
@Dizzywizz is that a joke or s genuine superstition!
Going to get me a money plant (Googles this) and be grateful I didn't lose my wallet today!

@Inforthelonghaul
After googling it turns out I already have an Ikea money plant in my downstairs loo and didn't know

Money spiders

@tryingoutgreyhair it is a genuine superstition!

janj2301 · 23/09/2019 20:28

Silver dollar plant, I've always known them as "Honesty"

DontCallMeShitley · 23/09/2019 22:55

Crassula plants are the money plants you need, they need to have thick leaves, not the ones that look like coins (shape of leaves) and are thin.

This is a Feng Shui fix, so the plant needs to be in the correct area for it to be effective.

I have been using them for years and still not rich, but still not destitute so maybe it helps.

Crassula Ovata is the one that is most common, some of the others are more interesting to look at. Look in a Chinese restaurant, there is often a large one by the window. And the lucky cat by the till.

tryingoutgreyhair · 24/09/2019 13:39

Crassula is the one I've got I think.

I shall consider moving it from the loo windowsill to a more auspicious corner Smile

Am not sure what people will think if I start spinning around. I read yesterday that the superstition originally comes from the idea of the spider spinning new clothes or something

Oh and get a waving cat ornament

If you have a money spider, wind it round your head three times (I have no idea which direction) then leave it in your hair.

My very superstitious Nanna used to do this. I do it too.

Dizzywizz · 24/09/2019 16:24

I don’t leave it in my hair @MissDew!! Not sure I could buy into that part of jt

tryingoutgreyhair · 24/09/2019 18:53

What does wind it round your head mean? Like a lasso? I will look like a waving cat..

Anyway we got a small insurance refund today for a gig ticket we couldn't use due to injury so I guess it's looking up a bit!

Carefully let the money spider on your hand or finger. Make three circles around your head then leave the spider in your hair.

Do not do this with other spiders or you will look like the subject of a horror story !

tryingoutgreyhair - well done on the insurance pay out for the unused tickets

DontCallMeShitley · 25/09/2019 18:02

Yes, you have a crassula ovata but don't worry about it.

Putting it in the loo means you flush money away, especially if you keep the lid open.

It needs to be on the left or right of the room as you enter, depending on whether you want to encourage money or love.

Lucky cat (Maneko Neko) doesn't have to wave, but you do need to make sure he is brandishing the correct paw as they have different meanings.

Whatever you do, don't get too involved in Feng Shui, you will never stop. Or if you do you will always wonder if you moved something to the wrong place and think that disaster will strike.

I hope your house is not facing a poison arrow or has a taller one next door....

I think the money spiders would just be happy not to be squished, and will bring you luck if you keep them alive.

tryingoutgreyhair · 26/09/2019 10:09

Ah but who doesn't want money and love! I suspect the least auspicious thing about my house is the collection of shoes that trip up visitors entering by the front door and the pile of post/bills on the side table!

I will try to remember to close my toilet lid though

Good idea, you don't want the money spiders to drown.
