Algarve in December: yes or no?

Found cheap flights 18th-24th. Not sure how the weather will be? Don't expect sunbathing weather but don't want torrential rain either. I've been having a look on tripadvisor for activities for the teen dc who like active holidays; will the boat trips be on at this time of year?

Any advice/recommendations welcome

I've been early January before and the weather has been around 19/20 degrees, sunny and pleasant. I've also been in February and endured flooding! Quite a lot closes down from the end of November in some areas so can be quiet.

Thanks cow. We don't mind quiet at all, we actually prefer it. Not looking for entertainment or anything but would like to do a boat trip into the caves, can't see from TA whether they would be on or not.
