Not wanting to be around people drinking

DD is 15 and is going to our local city tomorrow to do some shopping with her friends. They had planned on going to the Botanist for a mocktail but her friends mum doesn't want her to be around people who are drinking! Surely it's a restaurant/cocktail bar not some grotty pub !

I'd be less bothered about being bothered by drunks in an evironment like that, than attempting to sit on a bench on the high street with a high chance of being bothered by the street drunks/ druggies.

Depends on whether the place is classed as a restaurant or a pub I think as to whether they will be served at all without an adult being present. You could phone the place and ask if they’ll get served. They may say yes or no or only if they are dining in the restaurant. Once you know you can then consider if there is still a decision to be made as the place may rule them out and problem solved?
