Now that Precis have stopped, where can I find a good quality winter coat in a petite length?

I'll 5ft 1 and the discontinuation of Precis clothing is a disaster. It was the only quality petite clothing left.

I need a coat made of wool, not polyester. It needs to be at least 95% wool, not a wool/polyester mix.

It needs to be in a petite length, and the waist needs to be in the right place. No alterations, no hemming as it doesn't solve waistline or shoulder width issues. (Besides which, if I'm going to spend good money on an expensive item then I expect it to fit perfectly in the first place).

I can’t help but I’m following/bumping your thread because I’m after the same thing. I’m 5’ and everything is too long. Three quarters coats/jackets are nearly down to my knees and knee length ones end mid calf. Long ones trail on the floor. I’m close to giving up.

There's a few at Boden but they're so shapeless.

And there are Precis coats on Ebay from time to time, but all from private sellers and I'd rather go somewhere where I can either try on a variety of coats in person, or at the very least try on a couple of sizes and be able to return stuff.

Precis really was the last place left.

I’m the same height and sometimes find Hobbes ones that fit well, even though not petite

Egremont my heavy duty puffa coat is from Hobbs and it’s not too far off lengthwise (though the sleeves are way too long ). Will definitely look at their wool coats too. Thanks.

Yes I’ve had sleeves altered on my one from there but the waist/shoulders are ok

American retailers cater so much better for short people. I've had really beautiful clothes from Eileen Fisher. I appreciate the trying-on aspect though. Have you looked at Lands End for coats? Easy returns, and very nice range.

Banana Republic do petites, JCrew too but again online I think.

Have you looked at sea salt? They do petites, only on line though (which is unfair on us smallies).
