Can anyone tell me what kind of spider this is? (Picture included - don't open if scared of spiders)

We found this in our nursery garden today (UK). Does anyone know what type it is?

I think it's an orb weaver

Garden spider - and very beautiful with it. Probably a pregnant female. Their abdomens are huge at this time of year.

We have a few too. Must be the time of year for them.

We had a bright orange one in the garden once, which for some reason decided to follow DS1 around (he was a toddler).

We called it Drub.
