Insect control - what works?

In the summer months, we sit in the conservatory with the door open to the back garden which is all very pleasant, but the downside is we have a host of flies, bees and wasps who seem more than happy to join us.

We’re a bit (very) fed up of swatting them, or lying in wait with a stick hoover with the narrow nozzle on the end, often jumping up and down like crazy loons singing ‘I’m gonna get you, yes I am’.
Kinda gets a bit tiring.....

What works in terms of discouraging these little sods from entering? Is there some sort of diffuser that gives off an (undetectable to us) smell that repels them?
Any ideas very very welcome .....💐💐💐💐

Hang a row of fly-papers across the door frame.

Not the prettiest of things but I found the fly tape works that hangs from the ceiling

Citronella in a diffuser or similar?

Thanks for your replies, very useful.
Might try both Citronella candles and fly tapes.
