What is this horrible bug?!

Couldn't stop sneezing on Tuesday, had a sore throat and a bit of a cough. Assumed I had a cold brewing, dosed up on paracetamol and ibuproen and had an early night.

Didnt sleep at all due to sore throat and cough, called in sick at work. Started getting stabbing/shooting pains in my legs and fingers and my skin felt very sensitive to touch. Cough and sore throat disappeared, so other than the pains and exhaustion thought I was on the mend. Woke up at 12am with chills, really shaking then had diarrhoea.

Eventually managed to get back to sleep and woke up with stabbing pains in my hips and thighs, severe pain when moving my eyes and complete physical exhaustion.

Still slightly dizzy and nauseous and tired but hopefully over the worst. Not quite the cold I was expecting unfortunately. Maybe flu? Have had flu before, much worse than this but the same symptoms.

Anyone else similarly afflicted?!

Yes! All of my family have it. Sore throat, sneezes and feeling sick for the last three days.

frozenonions · 19/09/2019 19:52

Yep. I've had it since Tuesday. Fucking awful.

Was hoping for an entomology question SadGrin

I've had it since Friday. I've been mainlining meds', lemsip, garlic tablets... it's just started to lift a bit today but I've still got coughing fits and feel sketchy. It's awful.

whitesockss · 19/09/2019 20:41

@beethebee Grin sorry! I have some very fine specimens of huge garden spiders that have taken over my garden with some very impressive webs that I can post tomorrow if you like! Wink

Horrible isn't it?! Was hoping to be back at work tomorrow but will have to take another day off. Ventured outside for a bit earlier and then collapsed inside. Strange the cough and sore throat only lasted a day.

Are you fellow sufferers in London by any chance? Always wonder if these things move around the same area or if the whole country is affected!

Yes, yes, I've had this! Not London but one of the home counties. It's almost like a new symptom develops each day but the dizziness and eye pain have been the worst. I feel wiped out now.
Hope you're back on your feet again soon 😁

I had very similar last week, then a blistery rash appeared on my thigh, hip and head.

Shingles. It’s wiped me out.

Really wish I hadn't seen this post. Assumed my 1 year old and I were just coming down with a cold but your describing how we are to a t. Hope he doesnt start getting pains and to be honest I could do without them as I'll be looking after him.

Weve both got a cough, I've got a sore fuzzy throat and hes been sneezing for 2 days. I'm much more exhausted than normal.

ChocAuVin · 19/09/2019 23:20

Had this for nearly two weeks! Getting better now, fortunately—although even the recovery isn’t linear and I’ll feel almost better before crashing again Confused
