Argh, sleep and school....

Hello, I was wondering if anyone with a baby and school age children could share their routine. Struggling with timing naps now they're limited to school hours. Baby is 9 months old.

We've resorted to a single nap per day, late morning, for maybe 2 hours (as long as she wants). But she wakes between 1 and 2 and then struggles to get to 6ish with no more sleep. Won't sleep in pushchair.

How do others manage to fit in more than one nap a day? What's your routine? Thank you x

Hi! My DS is a year and his childminder does a school run 3 times a week. He has a nap at about 9.30 for about 40 mins - we wake him up after that- and then a nap again at about 1 for ideally 2 hours but invariably he wakes up earlier. Then hed at 7.

My 16 month old has just gone down to one nap a day as my eldest has started school - similar to yours from about midday until 2. But if he's particularly tired he has two still, one from about 9-10:30 and one from about 13:30 until 14:30. This is very limiting though I've found so it is tough.

What are school times? How do you get to and from school?

My 14 month old gets up at 5.30/6, naps when we get back from school run for around an hour, has an hour again at 2 and then goes to bed at 7. I think the very early start (😩) means he has time to fit 2 short naps in.

Thank you. I think I'll try an early first nap, too. School run is on foot, roughly 3-4pm.

We had an unheated vestibule so I used to get DS into his coat at about 2 (nap time) and put him into his buggy in there to fall asleep so I could head out on time to collect DD.

At 9 months I did
7am wake
Nap 9.30 - 10 (I woke her up)
Nap 12.45 - 3
Bed 7pm

Something like that might work ok?

NeverGotMyPuppy · 20/09/2019 10:22

God I'm jealous of a 12.45 to 3 nap!

GenevaMaybe · 20/09/2019 11:58

It’s just 2hrs 15 mins, nothing crazy!

NeverGotMyPuppy · 20/09/2019 15:22

I think DS has managed 5 naps of that length in his life!

Can't you put the baby to sleep in the pram if you are walking to school later?
