Utility Warehouse-yay or nay?

We've had a salesman in tonight, all very pleasant, no pressure to sign up.
I have to go back to him with some figures to see about potential annual savings.
Is anyone with UW, and can tell me what they are actually like as a company please?

If I remember rightly, it's one of those where you have to badger people you know to sign up to it too. I can't recall all the details but FIL was involved with them for a while and it was not a good experience.

Sorry, I'm sure you'll get more useful responses!

Pyramid selling, but ultimately for us they worked out more expensive and they have a reputation for terrible customer service once you are signed up.

Its an MLM so would steer well clear. You can use an online comparison site to find a good deal.

I love them, we have everything with them now., so 1 bill a month. This month we are being credited over £225 as I finally got round to sending them a meter reading.

mindutopia · 18/09/2019 21:41

No idea if they offer the best deal, but no I wouldn’t touch an MLM with a barge pole. I have several friends who did it and just nope.

frugalkitty · 18/09/2019 21:41

We've been with them for years, never had cause to complain.

MLM - my SIL is signed up - I had a look but unlikely to work our cheaper than what you’ll find on price comparison sites if you shop around - especially the internet and mobile is quite £££ for what you get.

We have Futility Warehouse for broadband and phone. It's crap. Sometimes DH has to switch the wifi off on his phone so that the signal is strong enough to reach my laptop. There are only two of us in the house. Futility deny there is a problem, but they do it very nicely.

BlackHillsofDakota · 18/09/2019 21:44

Terrible customer service if you have any problems.

Dhalandchips · 18/09/2019 21:45

My bills shrank massively! The woman who signed me up didn't do any hard sell, and sorted it out, even though there was a massive cock up over my meter. Only just realised is an MLM thingy though Confused

I had someone try to get me into this. It was going to cost more than I was paying my supplier at the time and I had to pay a monthly fee for the privilege.

Thorilicious · 19/09/2019 11:33

Hmm, seems a bit hit and miss. Thanks all.

We used them briefly about 15 years ago from a door to door salesman but we found once we moved house that it was cheaper to find our own suppliers.

My mortgage advisor recommends UW for household bills - they seem to have changed a lot from when I used them but having read the comments on this thread I think I'll stick with the individual companies!
