Can I sell alcohol like this?

I recently had a big birthday and was gifted several bottles of champagne. I don't really drink so although I appreciate the offering, they aren't likely to be used for a long while.
I do however need some cash as my shoes have holes and we have little disposable income.
Could I sell them on a local FB page or would I get in trouble for selling without a liscense? Does it count with things like this?

All the FB selling pages I use say "no alcohol sales". It IS illegal to sell alcohol without a licence, although there are several loopholes, most of which only apply if you're a publican or shop owner etc.

You could try selling it at a reduced price to your local pub, if you're a regular and explain your story they might give you £10 a bottle?

(If you're near me and it's champagne I like I'd buy it off youSmile)

Thanks PandaPaws.
I was thinking £10 a bottle but pretty sure the pub wont take it as they have a brewery they have to buy through.

As the PP said, it is illegal to sell alcohol without a licence.

Only a very dodgy pub would risk their licence by buying from an unlicensed person. Do you often go to dodgy pubs? How would that conversation start?

So..drink it, re-gift it, ask a friend to swap it for something they have that you need, store it, donate it as a raffle prize...

You could check the label of them. Some might say for example, made by tesco. Then they might return or exchange it.

Keep it stashed for birthday and Christmas gifts. It's illegal to sell alcohol and cigarettes without a licence.

As above it's illegal. I work in the buying/selling alcohol industry. Heavy penalties if caught do not do it .

See if you can swap it for something you can then sell for cash.
