Reasonably priced Autumn break for couple

DH and are hoping to get a 3-4 night break in this Autumn, in England for a desperately needed short break after some challenging times at work. Don't mind which area as long as there are country walks, pubs and ideally open fire / log burner. Our budget is tight, ideally max £100 per night but self catering websites seem very pricey since I last looked and cater for larger families.

Does anyone know of any good value websites for cottages etc I can look at please? We would also happily stay in a cosy hotel or pub if the area gave us what we wanted and it made it cheaper but definitely want to feel relaxed.

We are based London so southern / central areas are cheaper to get to (Cotswolds, South Downs etc but we could also travel to Dorset, Peaks, Somerset etc)

Have a look for hotels doing a dinner, bed and breakfast deal, you should be able to get something around that budget, or a little more, but you wouldn't need to spend much more on food.

Not the area you're looking for unfortunately, but I was looking at the Peebles Hydro, where you could get dinner, bed and breakfast for £125 per night per couple with spa access, in an area that's good for cycling and walking or access to Edinburgh and you'd probably only need a cheap sandwich or some snacks for lunch if you had a decent breakfast and two course dinner.

Or what about Center Parcs or Forest Holidays? I think that starts at £300 for a 3/4 night break outside the school holidays and you can take nice easy food to self cater with, swim, walk in the woods, watch the wildlife etc.

Thank you. had a look at Forest / centre parks but I'm afraid they are incredibly expensive!

Still hoping to find self catering rather than hotels so if anyone knows of any good value websites that would be great. Checking hotels as a back up though. Thank you x

www.grove-cottages.co.uk/ these people have some fab 2 person places. We've stayed in a few and they are always really cosy and lovely.

Lovely cottages @MrsFrisbyMouse absolutely stunning! And great value! Sadly though, we already visited this very area in August for a family event and so we feel we have only recently been to Suffolk and would love to go somewhere different. (I will bookmark for the future though :-)). We have never been to Cotswolds as a couple so I am ideally hoping to find something there but Air Bnb seemed pricey.
