Bank advice

I really do apologise for such a boring thread but I'm hoping someone can help me as I'm getting really anxious and worked up.

Does anyone know if banks can put a block on a company taking money from your account?

My little girl will be 5 next month so ordered her a present online which she's desperate for, thinking nothing of it. Only when I got the confirmation email did it say it won't dispatch for another 4-6 weeks. You'd have thought there would be mention of this before I ordered it. So I tried to phone them, nobody answers. You get asked for a phone number for someone to call you back but nobody does. Nobody has replied to my email, or Facebook message. so I got suspicious and Googled the company for reviews and it turns out that they are major scammers. Items just aren't ever turning up for example, despite people being charged, people are being charged multiple times, people are being sent items and changed for things that they didn't even order.

I've got terrible anxiety at the moment anyway for various reasons and this has really got to me, gone properly into panic mode. Aside from the fact that this is the only thing my daughter asked for her bday, I have very little money. I'm a single parent with 2 DC's, am also a full time student and can barely make ends meet as it is. I can't afford to be scammed.

They haven't taken money out of my account yet, just checked. Paid with debit card. Does anyone know if I can do anything please? Bank isn't open til morning and am set to be awake all night now worrying about everything.

Thanks so much.

Def phone the bank in the morning, but do you have online banking? You might be able to block it online so you don't have to wait until morning.

Thanks for your reply. Yes I have online banking with HSBC. I tried to figure out if I could block it but couldn't see a way to do it. Here's hoping bank can help.
