Irritable with dc while bfeeding newborn...

Has anyone experienced this?
My dd is 6 days old, bf going really well and I find it very relaxing/almost euphoric. Dd stays on for about half an hour each feed and is gaining weight.

But when my older dc are in the same room and I am bfing I feel a strong feeling of rage and irritability if they come anywhere near me, raise their voices, want to stroke baby or even look at her! I feel awful about this. I physically feel I can't stay in the same room as them! As soon as I've finished bf dd I'm back to normal and happy to have them around me and to have them cuddle dd etc.

Has anyone felt similar or am I weird and cruel? I'm hopeful this feeling will pass soon as I don't want to be shutting myself away from them every time dd wants to feed, which at the moment is pretty much all the time.

Sounds like a type of nursing aversion. I get it from time to time.

Magnesium supplements are supposed to help, particularly ones you spray on your skin.

Yep it’s totally normal. I was like this with my third. One you want the bonding time with your baby and find it hard to focus with your other kids jumping all over you. Two it’s like there is only so much physical touching you can cope with in one got. I just wanted it to be us two.

From my observations that's the norm!
