Postcode Lottery

Have you ever won anymore then £20 on the postcode lottery? Or know anyone that has? We've been signed up for a year and won £40 two £10 and a £20. I was talking to a colleague today who said she genuinely doesn't think there are legitimate big prizes despite the ads shown on tv.

I'm happy with our return, I think the odds are still better then the lottery, but just curious if anyone out there knows of a 'real' person winning?

Yes someone I know got 6k as did their whole street

stanski · 17/09/2019 00:31

I used to be signed up. Only ever won £10 Hmm

About 3 months ago, 7 people who live round the corner from here won about £30k each. Also the mum of a woman I worked with won £25k about 4 years ago.

I however am like you. I did it for a couple of years and won £10 twice.

Many of our neighbours are quite selfish people, which puts me off playing this particular lottery, as I know that any prize would potentially be shared with them. I play the National Lottery sometimes but have never won more than £10. I don't mind though, as I know that lots of good causes are helped by lottery funding.

I won £5,500 soon after I signed up. That was 5 years ago

Someone who works with one of my family members won £30k he was on the adverts and looked so miserable!

MarySibleysFamiliar · 17/09/2019 01:03

I quit it after a year as I had only ever won one £15 deposit in my account. At £10 a month that was a £105 loss.

They called me and tried to get me to stay, reminding me that I'd won £60 over that time. I had no idea. I checked the results and yes, I had won 4 x £15 however, I had only received £15 winnings. Once. That's it. I told them and sent bank statements as proof and they just said according to their records they had paid out and I would be missing out on the possibility of a big win if I cancelled!

My grandmother was quite pissed off a few years ago because she had considered doing it but decided against it then a lady down the street won a few thousand I think and of course because she hadn't signed up she didn't win.

Millie2013 · 17/09/2019 06:08

OH won £1000 soon after he signed up, around Feb 2019. Nothing since, afaik, but perhaps a smaller prize he didn’t mention

BarbaraofSeville · 17/09/2019 07:27

A street in my city won about £170k per household a few years ago. It was in all the local papers.

I've only ever won £10/20 a few times.

Fizbo · 17/09/2019 08:38

I'm glad to hear of people winning and look forward to telling my colleague that it isn't a scam!

A relative of mine won 6k, as did her two neighbours

You only share it with others that have paid though. They don’t just get a freebie. So whether you play or not won’t stop them winning only you’ll get a share of you do.

Starisnotanumber · 17/09/2019 09:19

Often wondered if the people who have the big wins tend to stay in their lucky street or move on to better houses with their money. If I won a large amount I think I'd move but improve my house if I won a few thousands
