Any dentists / dental experts around?

I had a moderately sized filling in an upper premolar removed and replaced two weeks ago, as there was a bit of decay underneath it. Initially it was absolutely fine- settled really well.

Four or five days along and it started to hurt- not a throbbing, intense hurt, but a soreness that has persisted for a week now. The tooth isn't particularly bothered by heat/cold or pressure, but just feels sore and irritated. Doesn't keep me awake, and is generally ok in the morning, but soreness and ache builds throughout the day. It's getting me down now ☹️.

I have an appointment to go back on weds, but just wondered what this might be?

Possibly a deep filling that’s close to the nerve and/or taking its time to settle down
Tbh you won’t know until you ask the dentist

The filling may be 'high' and need adjusting. Or it might be that the pulp is becoming non -vital; every time there is an intervention, the tooth is weakened . Best wishes

Thank you both

Does non-vital mean that the pulp is dying? I'm assuming root canal will be the next step.
