FFS I think I have mouth cancer

Have NC for this, not sure why I'm posting really. Think I just want a bit of a handhold.

Have had a funny bright red patch on my soft palate for a few months which I have been ignoring. About four weeks ago it turned white and the centre gradually ulcerated. It's getting bigger. Not painful but definitely uncomfortable. Have finally properly paid attention to it/ stopped burying my head in the sand and confronted the fact it looks remarkably like an oral cancer. And before anyone accuses me of relying on Dr Google I should point out that I am in fact an actual doctor. Just not one who knows much about mouths.

Off to dentist on Thursday to see what she thinks. Freaking out a bit, though that's silly as I know even if it is a cancer it's smallish and newish and has a very good prognosis. But bloody hell I could really do without this at the moment!

Hi everyone,
I had an Endoscopy in May this year where they found Thrush in my Oesophagus, they took biopsies and it was confirmed. About 3 days after the procedure I got a white patch come up on the left side of my tongue. I went straight to the GP who assumed it was Thrush and gave me a Thrush treatment. When after 4 weeks it hadn’t gone and was growing the GP referred me to ENT. I had 2 large biopsies done under a local with lots of stitches and was given an appointment for 3 weeks time. When I went back they told me there was no dysplasia but a Lichenoid Inflammation caused by some sort of trauma? Relieved it wasn’t Cancer (as I am a Kidney Cancer survivor) I went away happy and was referred to Max Facial for monitoring. The consultant in Max Facial was awful, rude with no bedside manner so I asked to be transferred to a different hospital and a different team. After a few initial assessments there (much better team I might add), they have decided to remove the entire area which literally consists of the whole left side of my tongue 😔
I have ulcers on it now and am very aware of it being there which I wasn’t so much before. I am going in for surgery on Christmas Eve 😢 and am absolutely bedside myself with worry. I’ve convinced myself it’s Cancer and that it’s spread everywhere and now I feel like I can’t breath! I can’t stop crying and my heart is pounding, I keep looking at my tongue constantly and feeling my jaw and face for lumps (there aren’t any). I have been given a 6 week recovery period but get the results 2 weeks after. I don’t want to go through it but I know I have to!

Oh OP.

I remember reading your original post but didn’t comment because I’m clueless about these things.

My heart just sank to my feet when I read your update. You must be devastated. I don’t know what to say other than good luck with the surgery. I hope you get the best results possible and will be thinking of you.

Hand hold as required from me. Hope it's all ok.

So sorry Sarah, good luck with your op. Frightening times, but you will come out the other side.
(You're not the original poster are you? The timing seems wrong).

Jumping on a very old thread in search of a dentist. Would it be ok to send a pic to something I’m worried about in my mouth?!

Hi all, this red bump/lump Appeared out of no where 4 days ago, it’s smooth and hard and only painful if i press on it with my finger.. not looking to diagnose just curious to see if anyone has had anything similar and went away or turned out to be nothing?? I’ve got really bad health anxiety and worried it might be cancer.

Slightly different as I have a large hard lump on my hard palate, not painful and has ulcers on it. I went to the dentists last week and they have referred me to maxillofacial specialist.

Easier said than done, but try not to panic as I'm sure there could be a number of reasons for this patch in your mouth. Definitely get yourself to the dentists though!

Best of luck Flowers

hey can I ask. How was it in the end
