Waiting for Dvla to give back my license

Hi,
Looking for a bit of advice from anyone who can help with Dvla time scales please?

I had my driving license revoked on medical grounds 2.5 years ago. (Non epileptic attacks...taught by a neuropsychologist how to control them, last attack was 15 months ago). I was allowed to reapply 4 months ago and I guess I'm just wondering if anyone has any insight in to how long this process may take? Maybe from personal experience, or from someone who works with the Dvla?

First letter told me it would take about 8 weeks. At 8 weeks got another letter stating it "could take some time". Called the Dvla 3 weeks ago and was told they're not able to give time scales over the phone.

I totally get that they have to be doubly sure it is safe for me to drive, but it's the not knowing that is driving me mad (pardon the pun!)

Oh and please do keep ringing them. The online thing tells you nothing. By ringing I was able to find out the date they wrote to the consultant for example, so I could chase his secretary to reply.

And also try putting a complaint in writing. They told me 8 weeks and it ended up being 5 months!

antaresisistar a massive massive thank you to you for the link you gave me to complain to the DVLA Thanks

I've only gone and had my license returned!!!!!! ShockGrinGrin

I'm absolutely certain it's not a coincidence!

And thank you to everyone who replied, and also whoever suggested getting in touch with my MP too. I don't know what has happened to change the situation but I'm just so excited now!

Thanks you Thanks

Sorry to be a party popper but I'd wait until you have the licence physically in your hand before getting behind the wheel. DDad had a letter saying he was good to go (he'd had a seizure, then brain surgery about 15 months before, and had been advised he could apply after a year), so booked a lesson to rebuild his confidence. The day after they said they'd changed their minds and he had to wait. Was another couple of months after that Sad
