Games for pc

I'm thinking of getting fed a laptop to share. They are 9 and 7, mostly for dd1 currently as she will start getting homework soon and needing a pc for school work etc. However I would like them to be able to use the computer for fun too. When I was a kid I used to love going on the computer playing games- do they still have CD drives to put games in or are they all downloads now? Any recommendations for some fun games? Is sims still around, that was my fav, think it would be right up their street too! They like harry potter, animals, art etc. Maybe some educational type games too??

Thanks. I don't currently have a pc, apart from work one so have no clues about current technology!!

Yes the sims! The sims 3 is better than the sims 4 imo.

I also loved games like Theme Park World etc.

Minecraft is popular in my house too.

The sims 3 is very heavy on laptops though, the sims 4 is designed better for them.

Kerbal Space Program, available from Steam games.

Build rockets/planes/space planes/space stations and stuff and fly them to the Mun and other celestial bodies with actual physics and sfuff.

Or, more often than not in my case, crash, burn and take out half your space centre to boot.

There's also Spore, a sort of evolution game where you can pick biological upgrades, which isn't bad either. Not that I've ever actually made it out of the sea, let alone built a village.

Steam has loads of good games. Lilly Looking Through, Kerbal Space Program, Terraria. It also has old favourites like Monkey Island.

My Dd loves the Sims (so do I 😶). We prefer Sims 3 and have a Dv envy laptop. All the expansionsand downloads from TSR are on there any it never crashes or lags.

That space game sounds awesome, for the kids obviously.... I'd never play all the time Grin brill thanks for the suggestions! Need to get up to date!!
