I'm thinking of getting fed a laptop to share. They are 9 and 7, mostly for dd1 currently as she will start getting homework soon and needing a pc for school work etc. However I would like them to be able to use the computer for fun too. When I was a kid I used to love going on the computer playing games- do they still have CD drives to put games in or are they all downloads now? Any recommendations for some fun games? Is sims still around, that was my fav, think it would be right up their street too! They like harry potter, animals, art etc. Maybe some educational type games too??

Thanks. I don't currently have a pc, apart from work one so have no clues about current technology!!

Steam is what you need. Online downloads and will have the games you buy on any computer you use if you download steam and install it.

There are some great deals and loads to chose from.

My d's loves sim games and one called hybrid animals where he gets to make creatures!

Yeah I was going to say the sims too! Remember playing it for hours at the age of about ten. Series 1 - 3 are good. 4 is empty tbh, not worth it. Thinking on it though...I think for her age group, sims 1 might be the most appropriate. You can get them on eBay cheap, just make sure they come with the leaflet that has their installation code.

Zoo tycoon was another one, think they've remade that though. Dogz 5/catz 5/babyz 5. All cheap n easy to find online.

As for newer games - my time at Portia.

Ooh I had dogz too, if forgotten that! Loved it! Thanks

I didn't mean 'the sims', just sim genre games... Like goat simulator, or there's a new one coming out.. Pigeon simulator! D's also loves 'I am bread' which is bonkers! Amazing frog.. Utterly weird but harmless.

Hole.io is a tablet game he likes.
