How do you store your toddlers toys

Hello,

DS is 2 and we are trying to work out how to store his toys downstairs.

We have a small conservatory off our lounge that currently has all the big items so a play kitchen, train table, dolls house and a sofa. We also have a wooden chest in the lounge bit that has happyland sets it and other toys.

We've also got various baskets with cars, animals, figurines and tracks. His books are on the shelves under the tv. We can tidy most of it away but it's all very bitty.

His toys seem to be getting smaller and coming with more bits.

I'm thinking we need some kind of storage unit all the bits can go in but not sure what's best

What storage do you use?

(I have got a lots that I'm selling on so I've got less but he seems to play with everything. I'm also due another one in a couple weeks to add to the toy chaos)

I do toy rotation with my toddler so I got some big lidded boxes that stack, and split the toys up into them and keep them upstairs piled up in the bathroom and then bring one box down at a time so that way even though some have smaller bits there's not so many of them at once so they don't end up everywhere and he can easily tidy up at the end of the day.

2y.o. One toy chest downstairs, filled with whatever they fancied that week. All other toys in their room.

By 3y.o. all toys upstairs. We use toy storage boxes, mainly, for things like lego, building blocks or toy animals, small bags for puzzles, a deep, full-size bookshelf for all books and another for fabric-based storage drawers full of bits like instruments. The kitchen came with its own storage shelves and oven, where all toy food goes.

The only things we don't store in their bedroom yet are crayons and pens - for obvious reasons.

I've just got a 4x2 kallax from IKEA with the drawers and the idea is that we can have one drawer/box thing out at a time for 2yo DS.
