Selling on Etsy - free US Postage Issues

Does anyone sell on Etsy that could offer advice on this new US free postage? I'm in a pickle.

I do lots of sales to the US so opted to go with Etsy's new free postage. I thought I could increase US prices but not UK. Wrong. I also didn't realise that it's cumulative prices. I'm an idiot.

It's fine for bigger items as I've just increased prices but an order has come in for lots of smaller heavier items that meets the $35 free shipping. It's going to cost me £14 to ship this. Agghhhhh.

What would you do? Cancel the order and explain? Cancel the free US shipping completely? (can't work out how to do this) Increase all prices - this wouldn't cover the postage on small items and would make me v expensive.

So pissed off tbh. Bloody Etsy. Help!

Can you offer free shipping on just SOME items on Etsy, just the heavy ones?

How does the star or feedback system work on Etsy, can you take the hit of a negative review.

If you're going to cancel the order, it's important you do it quickly. Buyers hate feeling messed around and a quick cancel with sincere explanation would be more likely to be forgiven.

I'm on Ebay not Etsy, so I don't fully understand the entire model, so can't suggest more things. But I could imagine paying a simple $14 this time only to keep my good review scores. Your call.

Sadly can't offer it just on certain items, it's cumulative too. This order is multiple smaller items combined to make the $35 cut off.

You're right, will have to cancel ASAP if that's what I do. Luckily the US time difference gives me some thinking time. I don't think you can leave feedback if order is cancelled.

No feedback = no-brainer decision. Profusely apologise to try to maybe get their custom in future. They may not even realise you are not in USA.
