My best friend had a Rick Astley birthday cake. His face was painted on the icing.
Was an epic cake 😁
We were 10 ate pink blancmange and ice cream and watched friday the 13th as well.
So of its time. 😂😂

When I was ten Gazza cried. I spent the summer hanging out with a great group of friends; riding our bikes to ‘call for’ everyone, playing football in the park, and staying out until the street lamps came on.
I also had my first real-life crush and when he bought me a push-pop I thought it was true-love.

I cannot remember being 10. Actually I have huge gaps in my memory - cannot remember being 30 or 40!

However, my eighth birthday was the bestest ever ever! Not sure what we ate but mum made me a lovely doggy nightdress case -from the colour of it I think it was meant to be a golden labrador. I had a desk and a typewriter. I just remember mum telling me to go in the dining room and my presents being there.

I also used to really love Christmas as a youngster. Our cousins came round, the Swedish angel candle carousel thingy came out and we were allowed to drink Cherryade!!!

When I was ten I was taken to see the West End revival of Grease starring Shane Ritchie and Sonia. Was immense.

When I was 10 I was bridesmaid for my auntie.

My birthday party was at my house where one friend just wanted to watch our TV as they did not have one.

My husband was born when I was 10

On my 10th birthday my mum let me stay off school for the day and we went to the stables she worked at. I was really happy because I was in the obsessed with horses phase of my childhood. I helped my mum to rescue an old pony that had got stuck on her back down a ditch and then named my new toy cat I got for my birthday after the old pony. The next day I went out with all my birthday money and bought a personal stereo (cassette player like a Walkman but a cheaper version), headphones and a pack of blank cassettes,

I was on a school activity holiday on my birthday.
The day after I came back I crashed my bike and broke my arm.

It took the school years to get across the message that the trip wasn't dangerous and my broken arm was a coincidence!

When I was 10 I walked to and from school by myself, let myself into the house after school several hours before my mum got home from work and spent all my daylight hours not at school or being taken to visit my many many elderly relatives at the local rec hanging out with my friends.

By the time I was 12 I’d moved house, lost touch with my old friends and was struggling to make new ones. I loved being 10, I felt free and happy and had lots of friends.

When I was 10 I had my tonsils out and wasn't allowed to go see the Spice Girls at the cinema for my bday (the drs said to keep me away from crowds for 2 weeks)
I eventually got the VHS in a fancy tin.
