Please can anyone advise?

If I need to find a birth certificate of somebody born in India when it was under British rule (their father was a serving soldier & the family was posted there), do I need to search the Indian records or the Army records?

There's a very helpful genealogy forum called Rootschat, free to use, try asking there you'll definitely get a reply.
