I’m looking for a really nice place for a celebration meal. I don’t live in London anymore so I’m not sure what’s good at the moment?

In previous years we have been to Galvin, Helen Durroze at the Connaught and Clare Smyth’s restaurant Core. Just to give you an example of the kind of thing I’m looking for. Something new a bit different would be good.

Its for me and an older relative so not anything too ‘romantic’ please. Preferably within zone 1-2 and must be accesible by public transport.

Just googled Bob Bob Ricard, love the all booth seating! Can't be doing with places where the tables are in a line with inches between them

The Greenhouse. Very, very good. Best pastry chef in the UK, easily.

Mere

Pollen Street Social is amazing.

Le Gavroche. Not new but classic and classy. 2 Michelin stars. Amazing.

I adored the Cinnamon Club, but Sheekey's is my all time favourite. Eaten there several times and never had a bad mouthful. I could write an essay on the side dish of heritage carrots last time we were there.

A bit different but definitely in zone 1 would be the restaurant at the National Portrait Gallery. I've only done tea there but the lunch menu looks good and you get a fantastic view over the London skyline.

recommendations please

Make sure you take the kitchen staff a gift when you arrive. Donuts always goes down well. Or teabags.

Monica Galetti's Mere is great. Social Eating House is the sister of Pollen Street Social and both are good.

I wasn't a massive fan of the food at Bob Bob Ricard but the setting was amazing and the desserts memorable, which i find unusual!

I haven't been for a few years but always used to love Andrew Edmunds.

And if you want something a bit different, the dim sum and patisserie at Yauatcha are incredible.
