Can anyone recommend a set please? May be not quite as expensive as Le Creuset. Thank you.

I have a sainsburys one and a le creuset and I prefer the sainsburys.

GilmoreMe I’ve just googled and got this.

It's bad news for those who have been pronouncing the name of the French company as 'lay-croo-SET' or 'luh-croo-SAY'. It turns out that you have to put the emphasis on the middle syllable and pronounce the 's' in Le Creuset as a z. The correct pronunciation of Le Creuset is say: 'luh-CROO-zay'.

I have one from Lidl. Same colour as my Le Creuset one and just as good.

I don't think the make matters that much

Are there people who don’t say Le croosay?

I never knew such poverty existed! Grin

Shirtyllama · 14/09/2019 10:28

Nah, the 'eu' sound is more like 'sir' or 'um,er', or 'her' in British English without the 'r' sound.

Shirtyllama · 14/09/2019 10:29

And you're right, the t is silent

Eminybob · 14/09/2019 10:45

I know someone who pronounces it “Le croo-so” No idea how they came to that conclusion Confused

linentowel · 14/09/2019 10:49

Eminybob, a bit like those who pronounce Primark as Premark!

She pronounces it leh croosee. I won't judge her too harshly though. Turns out I'm also wrong, I've always thought it was luh croo say.

I have a couple of Sainsbury's ones and I'm perfectly happy with them. I got them half price in the sale too so they were a bargain.

TheJoxter · 14/09/2019 11:44

I’ve been to three different t k maxx shops recently and they were all full of le creuset so that’s a good place to start

ThomasHardyPerennial · 14/09/2019 11:47

Another vote for Sainsbury's, although I managed to chip the coating off one of the handles. At least it wasn't expensive.

I also have a couple of Waitrose own brand, and they are really good too.

Justkeeprollingalong · 14/09/2019 11:48

@GilmoreMe I believe it's Le crew-say. 😉

Justkeeprollingalong · 14/09/2019 11:50

@ThomasHardyPerennial the Aga one chipped quicker than the Sainsbury's!

wowfudge · 14/09/2019 11:54

I got a huge shallow, lidded cast iron casserole from Aldi a few years ago. It's great.

surabayajenny · 14/09/2019 11:56

My local Lidl mag says they're having them in next week.
