How long does it take to settle at a new workplace?

I started at a new job on Monday and everyone seems lovely and very supportive.... but they're all obviously such good friends and there were so many inside jokes I felt left out

How long before you're part of the team?

Minimum of 6 months for me, but I am quite introverted. The longest has been 1yr plus but I've learned to embrace the good points and focus on what I want out the work experience.

How long is a piece of string ?

Far too many variables.

Although, until you realise you are the longest serving member of the team, I think I always presume other people know things I don't - though that might be more around actual work rather than 'in-jokes'.
