Sure start Maternity grant

Hello all!
I am 32 weeks, and am yet to move with the local housing council.
I have a viewing Monday and I am 1st and looked at the house on the outside and like it, so sure it will be mine, and I should be moving within 1-2 weeks of viewing it. I just hope my daughter does not arrive early as I need to hire a decorator and pay for carpets! And want it all done before she is born. I have applied for a sure start maternity grant and have recieved a text saying they will reach a decision in 21 days! I've heard its normally within 10 days. Had anyone had this before? How long did it take for you to get it, I'm hoping this grant with pay for carpets.
Also I can apply for child benefit is this to be done when she is born or before hand? I'm so tired and stressing to get everything done in time. I've also had SPD also so as you can imagine I'm very tired and sore. Any Information you wonderful mums can give me be greatly appreciated :) xxx

Cant apply for child benefit until birth

Child benefit you have to wait until the baby is born but they'll back date it if it takes a long time to sort. Sure start grant took about 4 weeks for me. SPD is horrible, you have my sympathy!

I applied and had mine in the bank within a fortnight as far as a remember. It was very quick.

Took them 2 days to decide if I was getting it. Then 7 days after for the money to come in.
