Sex and cervical erosion?

Since the end of July I've been bleeding after sex, I had my last smear test at the end of July (just before the bleeding started) so wondering the nurse triggered the bleeding. Anyway, I've seen the GP and he was fab, wanted me to come back to see the nurse for swabs and a good look at my cervix. I saw the nurse and it seems I have a 'large ectropion' on my cervix. Sex is not painful, I just get a bit of bleeding for a few hours afterwards.

She didn't say anything about sex and I can't find an answer on Google. Should I abstain until it's sorted, or is it okay to carry on?

No, it’s fine, carry on. Cervical erosion is basically just the kind of cells you have on the inside of your cervix growing on the outside. Hormonal contraception can cause it as can having had a baby. It’s not really ‘abnormal’ in any sort of bad way. I can’t imagine they’d do anything about it really. I’ve had it for years. It’s just one of those annoying things.

This was picked up 5 years ago on one of my smears, the nurse said it was common when using hormonal contraception, nothing more was said of it.

I’ve never had any problems, and wouldn’t have known had she not told me.

I've had this several times and have had the cells cauterised once. They aren't anything to worry about.
