What room do you spend the most time in?

My MIL thinks the kitchen should be the nicest room in the house because "that's the room people spend the most time in." And she doesn't mean just cooking/cleaning, she means sitting down, having a cup of tea, reading a book etc etc. She thinks the living room should only be used for relaxing in the evenings, and maybe weekends in the daytime, BUT only if you're poorly Confused

I spend most of my time in the living room Grin

I have an open plan living and kitchen room so l spend most time in both. But if they were sperate probably the living room. Love my sofa. Living room is called that for a reason you live in itSmile. Tell your mil that

We have 4 rooms. Main (hall, living, dining, kitchen) and 3 bedrooms. I spend most time in the main room.

Me - the living room
Husband - the bloody bathroom (or so it seems)

I spend most time in my study.

If I was reading a book I would sit in the conservatory in the summer and the living room (open fire) in the winter.

I have an north-facing old-fashioned galley kitchen so can't sit in there as dark and there are no chairs!

Living room if we're not counting the 8 hours I'm in bed asleep. As a family we prefer to be in living room over the others

We've got an L shaped kitchen/dining/seating area looking onto the garden. Most of my time is spent in there.
I only go into the living room if I'm watching TV.

Kitchen first, then living room, then bedroom!

Living room is more when I’m sitting down with the baby or with the kids, in the evening me and dh lie in bed and watch tv, we’ve even gone through stages where we eat in bed but we usually eat downstairs now.

Probably my kitchen diner. But it's big and light and south facing and has an arm chair next to the big bifold doors in the sun. I'm currently curled up in it with the sun on my back.

Like Notso I've got an L shaped kitchen/dining seating area so we spend most time in there. The TV is in the lounge so we spend evenings in there/kids watch TV in there.

We have an open plan kitchen/dining room with garden room attached to the dining room. I spend nearly all my time in there, usually in an armchair by the garden room opening. It's light and airy in summer and cosy in winter.

We have a snug which is the same as a living room I suppose (fireplace, sofas and books, plus tv) but I only go in there if we're having a family film night, if unwell or at Christmas really.

Most friends/family who have a big kitchen diner sit in there most of the time.

Kitchen

Tend only to go in the sitting room when I’ve done everything for the day - 9pm onwards.

Ours is a kitchen/dining/living room (open plan) with a separate sitting room. There's a tv and comfy chairs in both (individual chairs in living room, sofa and 2 armchairs in sitting room). And the ability to play music. Sun shines in the living room most of the day and sitting room is north facing - but has a wood-burning stove.

Most of the summer, we spend most of our time in living room. The sitting room is mainly used by DD to lounge and play Xbox.

In winter, it becomes a bit more balanced. But as we are all out all day, and DD does homework while DH and I are often doing work or admin of various kinds, she ends up in her room (study desk and her book shelf set up there) while DH and I split between the study (former boxroom upstairs), dining table and armchair in sitting room to get things done. (Some is just reading, some needs computers). When we do get that half hour to relax before bed, it becomes more likely to be the sitting room.

We all agree we actually just need more time to enjoy the house. Regardless of which room that is.

Bedroom - in bed. Wink

The kitchen! Cook, eat and sit at the table chatting. We are only in the lounge to watch tv in the evenings
