I just don't get it.

I'm watching Question Time. It has #bbcqt as an indent on it.

I search that on Twitter (I'm on, despite being 🤨 about it), and I get a list of 'who to follow'.

Where do I find the incisive online debate, as people watch it live?

I did but could only find stuff appertaining to the previous night's! There was nothing 'live' appearing.

This morning, I can find it, the 7 hour old stuff about last night!

Bit late now but in that screenshot is a random account not one for Question Time. It is only following one other account and has less than 1000 followers. The actual handle for the QT account is bbcquestiontime. You would probably want to search for the #bbcqt rather than an account for live tweeting.

Oh, I saw the #bbcqt watermark on the top left of the screen while watching Wuestion Time, thus assumed that was where the action was!

Why would that not be the case?
