Hi,
It’s that time of year where I start prepping for xmas. It is my favourite time of year as all the family are together. My sister in law lives abroad and it’s my nieces first xmas, she couldn’t fly home last year so I am very excited to have her home for 2 weeks! Every year I am in charge (like most mums) of getting everything organised so everyone has the best time. We have 2 Christmasses as my step son spends Christmas with his mum. As we have been on a tight budget for a few years due to redundancies I start stocking up in sept to spread the cost. Every year my husband complains about the cost and says I spend too much money. As my step son is older and into his gaming I limit to 2 games as they are £50 each and get a few extra bits. Last year after getting tired of his constant complaining I sent him a full breakdown of every item I had purchased to which he was finally happy! I also offered for him to take over and do the planning to which he very oddly went quiet and declined 🤣Hooray!!!! Or so I thought! This year we are purchasing his parents house which completes end of October. Me being the over organised person I am and to keep the pressure off during December mentioned setting a budget and seeing how much we can get ready before the mortgage payments start to come out. The moaning starts again 🙈 ‘you always buy too much’ You go over the top’ ‘it isn’t as expensive as you make out’ must have completely forgotten about the strict budgets I kept too in previous years. We only ever buy for close family as it can get silly buying for a family member you see at parties. can’t win right? I did warn my husband last year that any comment, moan, mention of cost around Christmas will land him in charge of planning it all. I was very pleased to announce following his moaning that we have 16 people to cook for on Xmas day and this mum elf is on strike. He is now in charge of planning the lot. I will be sat enjoying my mulled wine, paper cut free whilst he does the running around. Call me stubborn/childish but I couldn’t resist seeing the panic on his face!
Any other mums get the same?
