Need help with Linked In!

My DH is looking for a new job. The best way of him doing this (given his role and industry) is to be active on Linked In. He's worried because he knows his boss is active on it, that he'll twig that my DH is looking to move. Is that how it works?! I don't know much about it unfortunately. If he updates his profile will it 'tell' all his contacts that he's done it? If he sets that he's looking for a job, will his employer see that? If anyone could explain, and give some tips on how best to use it for finding a new job, I'd be so grateful. Thanks.

When you update your profile you select whether your connections will receive a notification.
He can mark himself as actively looking, which only recruiter accounts see.

Your dh can edit his profile and when finished it asks if you'd like to share the updates amongst contacts. Just say no. Unless his boss is actively checking your dhs profile they won't know. And he'll know if his boss has been on his linked in profile because it tells you.

Thanks so much, we'll spend time this weekend going over his CV and his Linked In profile so we'll bear those points in mind.

If his boss checks his profile, he won't see it necessarily - it's possible to view privately. If he's looking new job, aldo recommend premium version (about £25 a month but 1st month should be free- there's offers), but that might indicate to a boss - depending how clued up they're on LinkedIn.

I'd make sure to update profile as well as say actively looking.
