I know there is a work subject but no one ever seems to get many responses so hoping chat will!

I have worked for the same company for several years (15 😳) and know the business well having been in the industry for another 5 years on top of that.

At the moment i have taken a big step back for personal reasons and in that time quite a few staff and management have changed. This has ultimately cause some redundancies and people moving to different companies.

A role that i have been lobbying for to help in our department has just been made available. New boss is taking all credit for this role - fine shit happens.

I really want this job! So much so that I’m prepared to go back full time (been part time for some years). Manager knows both of theses points.

However the job description makes reference to specific application requirements and qualifications that i don’t have 😔. Very likely to ensure i don’t get the job!

Not to drip feed the manager has come into a newly made position, isn’t well liked and has been putting their mates in the roles that have become available. I’m definitely being “blocked”, or so it feels even within my current role.

Before anyone says leave, I don’t want to currently. I love the company, the staff perks can be great and it is the only locally based company that I could work for in my sector. Pay for pt is pretty good too.

What do I do? Should i approach more senior management - something like this has never occurred before and i am completely naive to it. In addition i think if senior mgt team turn me down I would have no choice but to consider staying employed - in that my confidence would be shattered and obviously that after 15 years I’m not seen as good enough 🙁.

If i don’t apply then i might regret it, but if i do this could also be the case if i don’t get the role. I feel v torn 🤦‍♀️ Help!
