4yr old has developed phobia of wet hand

Hi
I’m looking for a bit of advice. My just 4yr old has recently developed a weird phobia about his right hand being wet and he won’t touch anything with it. He holds it in a really peculiar way and won’t play with it or use it to pull his trousers down if he needs the loo. I picked him up today from school and he had obviously done a wee in his pants because he didn’t want to wash his hands. He’s been doing it for about 2 weeks now. He’s been out of nappies since he was 2 and has never had accidents before. He has just started reception at a new school (although he attended their nursery for a few weeks before summer hols and then went to holiday club there over the summer). I’m hoping it will just be an odd phase but I don’t know what to do to help him through it. Any advice out there please?
