Interview questions

MissRabbitNeedsAHoliday · 11/09/2019 13:35

So I have an interview on Friday for a new role within my current workplace. Our recruitment manager is holding the interview and I've heard she likes the ridiculous "if you were a fruit what would you be" type questions Hmm
So please wise mumsnetters hit me with your best (and most ridiculous) interview questions so I can try to be prepared!

  1. What is your biggest weakness?
slipperywhensparticus · 11/09/2019 13:42

Why do you want this job (dont say Brexit)

KurriKawari · 11/09/2019 13:45

I remember an interview I had for vodafone call centre. He wanted to do a role play. We had to pretend we were in M&S, I was the store assistant and he was a customer returning shoes that had ripped after a year. He was ranting and shouting and adamant he deserved a refund...pretty soon I was like I dont care, i dont want this job anymore!!

Thank you! I'm not great at interviews so hoping to think of as many questions to practise before hand. @45KurriKawari that sounds awful, I think I would have left!

It was awful but made me realise neither the place nor the job was for me

weeblueberry · 11/09/2019 16:32

I work in sales and regularly got the 'sell me this pencil' type questions which are shite.

7Worfs · 11/09/2019 16:35

Here are some cringy ones:

If you were an animal, what would you be
What are you most proud of
How would your friends describe you
Describe yourself with 3 positive and 3 negative words
Where do you see yourself in 5 years

MissRabbitNeedsAHoliday · 11/09/2019 20:04

If you were an animal, what would you be
Oh god its these I'm dreading, I can think of nothing here I can say without wanting the ground to swallow me up!

How about these answers:

Owl - because I’ll be having a hoot of a time
Whale - same but a whale of a time

You are welcome Grin

Elieza · 11/09/2019 20:14

At least your place doesn’t use the STARR method of interviewing. It’s all a bag of steaming piss anyway.
Good luck, hope you get the job Smile

blueshoes · 11/09/2019 20:40

What you want to get across in the interview is why you are good for the role and how these skills etc will beat the competition.

Think about your USP in terms of 2-3 bullet points.

Then pad it out with proper examples.

With that structure in mind, if you get a left field fruit/animal question, think of the thing that illustrates any of the bullet points the closest. e.g. I would be a raspberry because I build relationships at all levels [boak] or a hyena because I am team player [poo] whilst keeping a straight face

blueshoes · 11/09/2019 20:45

Read the job spec carefully especially the qualities of the candidate. Then make sure you give examples of why you are the sort of creature that has those sterling traits.

MissRabbitNeedsAHoliday · 13/09/2019 18:15

Thanks everyone, the interview went well with only one stupid question! So just need to sit and wait. I read the job spec last night and tried to base my answers around that so fingers crossed.

OP posts:
blueshoes · 13/09/2019 22:18

Good to hear that. So what was the stupid question?

jelly79 · 13/09/2019 22:22

If you could change one thing about the business what would it be?

How do you like to be managed?

jelly79 · 13/09/2019 22:22

Oops too late!
Interested to know what the silly question was...

MissRabbitNeedsAHoliday · 14/09/2019 19:05

If you were a crayon what colour would you be? I went for blue - cool, calm and collected Blush Total cringe moment!
