OMG. Bastard bastard cats. I've had to move back into my ex husbands box room and his little darlings have peed in the mattress.

My life has gone to rat shit but cat piss?
Help me. Please.

Following as I'm having to cope with a repeat mattress episode here after returning from holiday (wee and poo!!!! 😩)

One of the enzyme cleaners from places like Pets at Home should help

redchocolatebutton · 11/09/2019 12:11

if it's soaked in, sorry, nothing will shift it.
you can try sponge washing it with warm water/bio washing powder and the drying it thoroughly (preferably outside).
but I suspect a new mattress is in order.
if that's not an option an allergy zip up cover.

The enzyme cleaner should help but you would need to saturate the mattress with it and let it dry

amylou8 · 11/09/2019 12:17

Simple solution, Amazon sell it.

redchocolatebutton · 11/09/2019 12:18

if it's a memory foam mattress the soaking it/getting it too wet will ruin it.

LazyDaisey · 11/09/2019 12:20

Simple solutions will do the job. It worked on foam (sofa) but I did basically have to saturate the foam seating with about half a gallon of the solution. It’s much cheaper on Amazon than in my local pet shop.

Also, type mattress urine into Amazon and a TON of products come back in results specifically for urine and feces stains on mattresses.

Scrub it with hot water with a dash of fairy and hydrogen peroxide and then dry by scattering with cat litter. The wooden one or papery one not the stones.

There was about 30 threads on housekeeping about this this morning. Go and have a look there. Good advice.

Yes the cat piss troll was rampant in The Litter Tray and Housekeeping yesterday.

Simple Solution seems to be the most effective.

Thanks all
I'm considering a new mattress might be the way to go .

I had an expensive mattress that the cat peed on. Google it and follow the instructions for the Bi carb, fairy liquid and hydrogen peroxide method. Hydrogen Peroxide is fantastic! It totally worked and DH is none the wiser. I now have waterproof mattress covers on all beds.
