I'm having a disagreement with my OH.
What's nicer, having the same carpet on stairs, landing and all bedrooms or the same on stairs and landing and different in bedrooms?
(going for vinyl in combined living/dining room!)

Ah yes, what dudsville said about if one section gets spoiled - if everything is matching the replacement is going to be very obvious, even if you get the same carpet again the older parts will have faded more.

When I buy our place next year, I'm putting astro turf on the stairs and landing and painting it sky blue Blush so I'd definitely agree it's nicer to have different carpet in the bedrooms.

flumpybear · 11/09/2019 11:38

@fivelittleducks1 - I'm doing the same as you with vinyl - which make are you going with ? I've only just come around to the idea and think it'll work for us (kids!)

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 11/09/2019 11:40

same....looks so much better- when selling/buying a house its more attractive and clean looking

Trewser · 11/09/2019 11:40

I think all the same makes the house look like a rental. And each room is different in my house.

mybabyisteething · 11/09/2019 11:47

If i had the money - i would go the same for my stairs, landing and bedrooms.

But at the moment, our bedrooms all have different.

WhoKnewBeefStew · 11/09/2019 11:50

Different in bedrooms, but only because I can't afford to do all at the same time. If I had no dh or dc I might be demoted to do all the same in a lovely cream shag pile Grin

BringMoreCoffee · 11/09/2019 12:00

Same for preference, unless any room has a particularly strong theme.

It's more important to have good quality carpet in hall and stairs than to match though. Bedroom carpets can be cheaper.

smileylottie87 · 11/09/2019 13:39

We have different but from the same sort of colour scheme which I like but really I wish they were hard floors in the bedrooms. OH much prefers carpet in bedrooms so had to compromise. Either way you go I'm sure it'll look lovely Smile

WalkersAreNotTheOnlyCrisps · 11/09/2019 13:45

All same here, I think it looks nicer.

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 11/09/2019 14:19

Different. Each room in my house has a different colour scheme so has appropriate colour carpets. Also the hallways and stairs have a very dark carpet which would be oppressive in the other rooms.

Spingtrolls · 11/09/2019 14:45

I only have carpet on the stairs. The rest is all different vinyl, tiles and wood.
Once the carpet on the stairs is no good I will not be replacing.
Most properties have different flooring as not many people carpet kitchens, toilets etc.

And buying a house. Carpets and decoration are not a consideration for me. Carpets ripped out straight away and redecorating started straight away.

Before we moved in we had all the walls painted magnolia and the same carpet bedrooms/stairs/landing/living room. We've since had time to decorate each of the three bedrooms, they all have different carpet now. When we do living room that will be changed as well though i am leaning towards hardwood flooring
