Home boarding for dogs

Prisonbreak · 10/09/2019 22:22

I am newly licensed and insured for home boarding of dogs while owners are on holiday etc.
What I’m unsure of is the daily rate to charge. Has anyone used a home boarder in the past and could tell me the going rate?
All my research gives wildly varying results so far. Thanks in advance

I think a lot depends on location.
What we pay here in South Wales may be very different to a reasonable cost in London and surrounding areas.

Can also depend on how many dogs you take on at a time, how much land you have, experience etc.

We've used two different home boarders and will use both of them in the future. One charges less than £15 a night, one charges just over £20. The lady who charges more has far more of an online presence and is quite well known.

There are other local home boarders with prices in between but I've not used them.

We pay £20 per day. She has a big house, large garden, takes the dogs for at least 2 walks a day. She also collects and brings him back.

Depends on the location and any additional services included (and to a certain extent, the marketing - I'm aware of one stables turned kennels marketing itself as a luxury dog retreat 🤨). This is also essentially home boarding with nice architecture and good marketing www.dailymail.co.uk/travel/travel_news/article-2716363/Its-dogs-life-Mariah-Carey-splashes-15-000-beloved-pet-pooches-say-Bristols-Paw-Seasons-hotel.html

Up until about 18 months ago I used to pay £30 for 24 hours in inner London - the woman was batshit but people who would take a twatty terrier was limited. I've moved since, and now have family who can take DDog, so not sure about new area.

I use home boarding for our dog and it's £13 per 24 hours.

I pay £20 a day plus booking fee of around £3 per day (via rover) That’s the lower end around here (NW England) with prices up to £30 per day.

Day plus over night £25

My DPs run home dog boarding in the SW.

The dogs are given full range of huge house & gardens plus walked between 5-8 times per day in their fields.

They charge £23 per dog per night including food & £20 per dog for day care (really popular).

They charge £25 per dog per night including food from 10th Dec - 3rd Jan.
