DH wants your help in choosing a weekend destination

Hi all, DH has just whatsapped me asking me to ask Mumsnet for help. It’s weird how dependent they become when they don’t even use it.

Anyway, he’s going away for a break with a friend. They are looking for a UK destination, up to 3 hours from London, somewhere interesting, chilled, a “cool” vibe. They will have a drink but aren’t big drinkers, happier to mooch around, spend time in some sort of hipster pub, have a look at a market, perhaps go to the cinema etc. DH loves countryside and scenery so perhaps not a city.

I think him and his mate are both struggling with organising a non romantic break! Any help is welcome x

Salisbury a lots of history around, but still a city

Stay just outside Canterbury for countryside but near enough to city. Bridge is good as it has a few pubs.

Bristol, lots going on and great indoor permanent market.

The Fordwich Arms, which, astonishingly, is in Fordwich, just outside Canterbury, is lovely and has a Michelin star.

Worcester, small town with nice pubs and the Malvern Hills to walk up with lovely countryside.
