Tips for a quick house move?!

We’ve been offered a housing association property in a really good area and have decided to take it as you only get 2 offers and if you turn down both your name is removed from the list and there is no guarantee it will be as good an offer this time.

We are currently in private rented, need to give 28days notice so there is going to be a bit of an overlap, add to that we have a family thing in October where we will be away for the 10 days in the middle of the month

So as you can see very short time frame, any tips to make it as easy and stress free as possible? I know it will be a totally blank canvas but I’m no rush to put carpets in/decorate

I would start packing up your rental place now then.

Look at your diary to see what you will need before the move, and start packing everything else. If you leave it, you will find you have a lot more stuff than you realised.
Remember sheds, garages, lofts etc where stuff might be out of view.

Try to be ruthless if there is stuff you won't need - get rid rather than moving it.

We had a overlap. Moved as much small stuff in boxes to the new place in our car over a week or so. Then had a man with a van move the larger items on one day. Spent fiest night sleeping on matress on floor and made beds up the next day

Get the movers in. They’ll have everything in the van and moved in a morning with much less risk of it being damaged.

Pack as much as you can now and live bare bones for a bit.

Declutter and be ruthless! No point moving it if you don’t need it.

Important documents and utterly priceless things, take them to your mums or a trusted person who lives close so they don’t get lost in the fray. Pick them up once you’re settled. I can’t tell you how many people I know that have lost passports/birth certs/ financial stuff in a move.
