How old were your DC before they stopped getting into your bed?

For a hug in the mornings, or after a nightmare etc

Need to replace my single bed and wondering if it's worth trying to squeeze a small double in the room.

My DD was about 4 . She came in one morning early and fell asleep. Woke me up later , having lifted the sheets to see that Daddy was sporting a "morning glory" . She asked me with horror "What's THAT !" . I told her matter-of-factly that it was Daddy's penis. "Oh that looks horrible !" she stated , and she never came back to our bed. I did miss those early morning cuddles.

ShippingNews · 09/09/2019 08:48

I must add that Daddy was dead asleep, and snored heavily throughout the episode , lol.

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 09/09/2019 08:49

DS is 10- i’ll Let you know when he stops Grin

BeyondMyWits · 09/09/2019 08:52

Mine never came through... both were really deep sleepers...

now late teens and have long angst ridden teenage chats on my bed at tea time for some reason - always teatime...

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 09/09/2019 09:05

if at the weekend we're not rushing out early and can lay about in bed for a bit DD 10 will often come in for a cuddle and a chat when she first wakes then I'll bring teas up and she'll snuggle next to me on her IPad whilst DH and I piss about on our phones check emails and such.

I'll really miss it when she stops, morning cuddles are the best Smile

ThereWere10 · 09/09/2019 09:07

DD comes through when she has nightmares and if she wakes early. I used to get DS (9) to read a book I me if he woke before 6 but this has fallen by the wayside as if DD is there, there's not really enough space for us all.

DH has his own single and a small double might just fit although there wouldn't be much space between the beds.

My eldest stopped sleeping with us at 3.5 but she still comes in for s cuddle some mornings when she wakes up. She’s 6. I would imagine that doesn’t stop til closer to pre-teen years. I sleep with the youngest now though so we have a massive bed anyway.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 09/09/2019 09:14

0 years old! Ds 5 never did it but as hes got older we've got him a larger bed (a small double) in case for any reason he would need one of us.Felt unwell etc.Dh and I only have a double bed so 3 of us wouldn't fit.

mindutopia · 09/09/2019 09:14

We have a family bed. A double and single pushed together.

Bea3998273 · 09/09/2019 09:24

DD is nearly 14 and still gets into my bed most nights! We've co slept since she was a baby and I honestly thought she would grow out of it by the time she was a teenager but no signs of it stopping yet!
Just us in our home though and I don't mind really except when she hogs the duvet and spreads across most of the bed!!!

Titsywoo · 09/09/2019 09:25

I have a 15 and 12 year old and both often get in for a cuddle in the morning! Never at night anymore though and they both coslept for the first 2 years or so.

ScatteredMama82 · 09/09/2019 09:28

My eldest is nearly 10 and still regularly climbs in for a cuddle in the morning at the weekend.

Soola · 09/09/2019 09:28

16 +

Pieceofpurplesky · 09/09/2019 09:31

15 yo DS always gets in on a Sunday morning and we watch some crap
On Netflix

Pascha · 09/09/2019 09:32

I dont think ds1 who's 9 ever will. I cant remember the last time he wasn't there from nearish 6am (and much earlier sometimes). Ds2 has never made a habit of it. He'll come in for five minutes then bounce around ready to go downstairs.

yikesanotherbooboo · 09/09/2019 09:54

DD was about 8 although she would come in occasionally if upset or worried about somethinguntil she left home .
DS1 hardly ever came in apart from sporadic wet bed so junior school age.
DS2 was a regular visitor until he was about 14 and occasional since.

steppemum · 09/09/2019 10:00

None of mine regularly came in during the night once past 2, but they came in to cuddle in the mornings for years and we still open Christmas stockings on our bed (oldest now 16)

ThereWere10 · 09/09/2019 10:37

Ok, so I have 200cm from DH's bed to the cupboard.
If I suggest a 140 bed then there's 60cm between the beds. Is that enough space?

OP posts:
CactusAndCacti · 09/09/2019 10:49

What do you need the space for? Is it just getting in and out bed?

DD 7 still comes in often. DD 13 sometimes needs to come in. DS 11 rarely.

ThereWere10 · 09/09/2019 10:52

Yes, getting in and out and being able to vacuum under the beds.

OP posts:
CactusAndCacti · 09/09/2019 20:32

Yeah you'll manage that. Be a squeeze but doable

MrsKCastle · 09/09/2019 20:34

DD 11 doesn't come in in the night any more, but joins us for a cuddle in the morning. DD 8 appears at some point every. Single. Night. The thing is, she doesn't even wake us up. Just sneaks in and we find her in the morning.

Mine were never allowed in my bed.

ExpletiveDelighted · 09/09/2019 21:48

Never co-slept and they never regularly came in at night or in the morning but DS (15) and I still hang out there quite a bit during the day and evening, we're watching telly together there now. It serves as a second living room really.
