Leeds - Restaurant Recommendations

WarmSausageTea · 08/09/2019 21:45

Can anyone recommend some restaurants in Leeds, please? DP and I have three nights in Leeds this week, and I've booked a table at The Man Behind The Curtain, but other than that, we have no plans.

We'll be at the Crowne Plaza, and I'd rather stick to the city centre, but will be fine getting a taxi or bus if needs be. We eat pretty much anything and everything, so anything from steak house, to vegan is an option, but a good Indian recommendation would be particularly welcome.

Thanks in advance.

Bundobust, or if you fancy Indian at lunch go to Manjits kitchen in the market. Lots of friends love Fazenda.

Personally I like to wander and see where I end up.

We went here last summer. It was lovely. Great food and great atmosphere.

What kind of food do you like? So many choices in Leeds. For Chinese: Tattu. Tapas: iberica. Steak: Restaurant Bar and Grill.

Thanks for these suggestions, all noted.

We really do enjoy all kinds of food. I like the idea of Indian food one evening, and particularly like Italian food, but am open to anything.

I look at the suggested places - thanks again.

We like here for an Indian meal www.tharavadurestaurants.com/

This is an Italian- not been for a while (only because I like one in our town so we try other foods in Leeds) www.bibisrestaurant.com/
Spiced Mango in the Peacock pub is lovely for a curry - opposite Elland Rd stadium, a short taxi trip from town.

For a different Indian, try Hansas - It's Gujarati vegetarian.

Fazenda!

Unfortunately, Hansas has now closed as the owners have retired.

If you fancy Thai, some good options are Chaophraya or Zaap.

Bundobust is great for a more casual meal, like Indian tapas.

I personally love Tharavadu, for South Indian food. If you go at lunchtime they have an amazing thali lunch deal, it's really filling.

The Cats Pyjamas is another really good Indian. San Carlo a nice/fancy Italian Smile

We eat out a lot in in Leeds. Although it depends on budget, Stockdales is really good they do amazing wagyu steak etc. They even have a really reasonably priced lunch menu which is far too cheap in our opinion the staff are lovely and the service is amazing.

I'd give the Ivy a miss as it's very style over substance and living on reputation you can eat much better food for the same price or cheaper.

Home is also a well sort after restaurant probably one of the most popular in Leeds at the moment but it's booked well in advance.

Then obviously you have Man Behind the Curtain by Michael O'Hare which I'm pretty sure has a Michelin Star.

I think the cat's pyjamas has also closed. Both tharavadu and bundobust are excellent, and next door to each other. Bundobust is more casual, but owned by the same people who own Prashad and some of the dishes are the same food but presented tapas style. You can't book for 2 but they should be able to squeeze you in fairly quickly midweek.

If you want pizza there's tapped which is a craft beer pub that does excellent wood fired pizza. Or second the Bibis recommendation if you want something a bit more upmarket.

There's also some good restaurants and bars in the trinity centre including a great Lebanese - Compitor Libanese I think. If you're looking for lunch, the Trinity Centre has the street food area, with a load of vans serving a selection, but they don't open in the evening. The market also has a street food area. You'll be spoilt for choice.

Cosy club is good. If you're wanting a casual lunch then I would highly recommend Zaap Thai. Tattu also nice as well as Bills.

Bengal Brasserie is another good curry house. For something different, there are a couple of Ethiopian restaurants in Harehills (which will certainly show you a different side to Leeds as well!!)

I really like The Reliance on North Street - more restaurant than pub food, and they make their own charcuterie. It's also in a good part of town for a few drinks.

These are great; thanks everyone, it’s much appreciated.
