‘She could not have made a worst move’?
‘Before she freezed on him’?

Freezed?? Come on, Kate!

Was everybody distracted by the bikini in the video?

Oh sod the grammar, it's a fabulous song! I love Kate Grin

Pinkarsedfly · 08/09/2019 14:29

Me too. But really...freezed?

OP posts:
Pinkarsedfly · 08/09/2019 14:43

It’s even worse than ‘4am in the morning, carried away by a moonlight shadow...’

Wouldn’t be 4am in the afternoon, would it?

OP posts:
Annabeth67 · 08/09/2019 14:45

‘Freezed on him’ gets me every time as well OP. Love the song though

pinkyredrose · 08/09/2019 14:45

4am is the morning! What on earth makes you think it's the afternoon? Confused

Annabeth67 · 08/09/2019 14:47

@pinkyredrose OP meant that why would the lyrics need to be ‘4am in the morning’ when ‘4am’ on its own tells you it’s the morning

pinkyredrose · 08/09/2019 15:13

Oh i see!! That'll learn me to skim read!

Pinkarsedfly · 08/09/2019 15:16

And, and ‘there’s going to be a jailbreak, somewhere in this town.’

Er...the jail?

I’m too pedantic to enjoy music these days.

OP posts:
picklemepopcorn · 08/09/2019 15:17

Is it worst? I always assumed 'worse'.

Pinkarsedfly · 08/09/2019 15:31

It definitely sounded like ‘worst’ this morning.

It was like a bucket of cold water Wink

IsadoraQuagmire · 08/09/2019 15:44

I love Moonlight Shadow so much, except for that annoying line. Why on earth couldn't he have written "4 o'clock in the morning" which scans in exactly the same way, but actually makes sense!

Pinkarsedfly · 08/09/2019 16:36

I sing it that way in a pointed manner, Isadora, while staring at the radio Blush

OP posts:
PancakeAndKeith · 08/09/2019 16:37

She is Kate Bush. She can write what she likes.

Rockbird · 08/09/2019 19:37

OK, I'll give you freezed.

But Oasis? "Slowly walking down the hall, faster than a canon ball"? W. T. F. ?

iklboo · 08/09/2019 19:53

She wanted to test her husband
She knew exactly what to do
A pseudonym to fool him
She couldn't have made a worse move

Definitely worse. But 'freezed' is wronger than Wrongy McWrongface

Pinkarsedfly · 08/09/2019 20:08

I’ve looked up the lyrics on several sites because I’m tragic

Some say worse, some say worst. It sounds like worst, though.

The Oasis one is bloody awful, I agree.

OP posts:
Laiste · 08/09/2019 20:28

I hear worst as well. In fact she seems to actually accentuate the T

Miljah · 08/09/2019 20:52

I was well into adulthood before I understood the premise of Babooshka.

I mean, a worse choice? They presumably recognised that they were deeply attracted to each other, in cheating? Or have I completely missed the point?

And I thought it was 'breezed' on him.

HerBigChance · 08/09/2019 20:57

Freda Payne's 'Band of Gold':

'You took me from the shelter of a mother I had never known'

Nope. She was unknown and therefore never provided shelter.

MayFayner · 08/09/2019 20:59

It has to be “freezed” otherwise the assonance (?) won’t work. Is that what it’s called? The mirroring of vowel sounds in the lyrics. Also it’s an opportunity for a- let’s face it- bit of a screechy bit. And KB never passes up an opportunity for a screechy bit.

It’s music so poetic licence applies!

Pinkarsedfly · 08/09/2019 21:12

I think ‘Band Of Gold’ is using enjambment, which causes confusion.

‘You took me
from the shelter of my mother, I had never known
To love any other’

OP posts:
Pinkarsedfly · 08/09/2019 21:14

Milijah it’s the same premise as the Pina Colada song, when you think about it.

OP posts:
Pinkarsedfly · 08/09/2019 21:17

MayFayner if only she could have chosen another word!

Seized?
Squeezed?
Pleased?

Just like his wife when she still pleased him?

OP posts:
Pinkarsedfly · 08/09/2019 21:19

Also, thinking about it too much, the daft bat gave him a massive clue by choosing the pseudonym ‘Babooshka’. It means ‘Grandma’.

She’s been selling him short. I reckon he knew it was her all along by her shit grammar

OP posts:
ToEarlyForDecorations · 08/09/2019 21:22

I reckon he knew it was her all along

Yep, I suspect that's the real reason he turned up. He was playing along.
