Just that really. Shopping lists, birthday cards, post-it messages always in capital letters when its quicker to do joined-up

DH always wrote in capitals, he just found it easier. He just could not do a joined cursive script, and even when he wrote in lower case the letters were not joined. I have just found a report he wrote when he was doing important inspection work abroad, and everything is in capital letters, pages and pages of it.

DH writes in capitals too, he never learnt cursive writing

Meh my own English teacher wrote on capitals. I really don’t find it an issue. My dm writes in capitals as her cursive handwriting is illegible

For what its worth I don’t have a problem with it at all, and was not criticizing though I seem to have given that impression. I live in a household where the males write in capitals and the females in cursive. All were taught traditional cursive handwriting at school, and write it legibly, but the guys have reverted to using capitals in their mid-twenties (they think).

My puzzlement is that children are first taught the alphabet in lower case letters. Even if they never progress comfortably to joined-up writing, why write in single capitals rather than single lower case letters?

I agree it’s a fairly pointless question, but I hoped there might be an interesting explanation.

DH does because he feels it's clearer for others to read. He's a very methodical, rational and precise person so I think he must have made a specific decision to do so at some stage in his life. I'm now intrigued as to when!
