How do I find the wee?

DS is 2 (3 in December) and has been potty trained since May. He's done really, really well. Absolutely no accidents during the day since June time.
Last Sunday, after he woke up from his nap, I took him into the living room with DH who was watching some sport. I was making cups of tea and when I came through, DS was crying hugging DH who explained to me that DS had an accident and was sad. No problem, I whipped his trousers and underwear off to throw in the wash while DH mopped him up and put fresh clothes on. I noticed a bit later on that the living room smelled like wee so I asked DH if DS had sat on anything when he had his accident. He said he didn't know. Apparently DS was on the floor, stood up, then cried which is when DH went over and saw he had had an accident. So I grabbed the carpet cleaner where DH said it happened and cleaned the floor and lit a candle. The next night, I could smell it again, so I cleaned near where it happened. Then the next night, I cleaned the sofa cushions and the base. Now I've done the whole carpet, the whole sofa and I can still smell it.
DH has no sense of smell so he can't help me, but I've been down on my hands and knees like a sniffer dog trying to find the wee and I can't.

What do I do?! I've tried carpet cleaner, zoflora and bicarb but I have no idea where this smell is coming from...

That’s weird OP. Would a professional carpet cleaner help? The kind where they come out to your house... Is there anything else that could possibly be causing the smell? Hope you get it sorted.

My friends little boy used to wee on the curtains when she was out of the room 😂

Could you try asking him where it was?

I caught my boy weeing in the corner of the downstairs loo, when we had a similar problem. I asked him if he always did it there and he said yes although he couldn't explain why?!?

We chucked the carpet obviously but it was only a small room and we were doing the house up.

You might need to shampoo the whole carpet and wash curtains etc

It was about a week ago now and DS won't remember that. I'm not fully sure he was completely awake at the time! I wish I could ask him.
I'm tempted to borrow a dog to help me sniff it out....

Definitely not on the curtains as they are the other side of the room and you can't access the bottom quarter of them if that makes sense.

DH thinks I've not got the idea of wee smell in my head which is why I can smell it.

Won't go into why I needed it Grin
