Is there already a thread about the 74 yr old woman who gave birth to twins in India

Story here for those who haven't heard:

www.thetimes.co.uk/article/worlds-oldest-new-mother-has-twins-at-the-age-of-74-in-india-8n0tvv6jv

Putting aside the morals of it which are frankly shocking, I can't imagine how her body at 74 could have gone through that. I'm in my 30s and feel sore after a run!

Wow. I wonder why she did it?

managedmis · 07/09/2019 20:21

Not sure I actually believe it really

Through IVF - she and her husband had been unable to conceive throughout their marriage and she became inspired apparently after a 55yr old neighbour had children. I mean I'd have been shocked enough at the 55yr old but at 74! Don't doctors have to adhere to some sort of moral code regardless of the amount of money potentially going their way!

This is one such an instance that deserves the favourite MN adage: I am Horrified!

Shocking and very sad. Husband is even older than her.

Revolting.

Apparently the mother had a stroke the day after giving birth, obviously no ethics committees there, poor babies 😢

janj2301 · 09/09/2019 22:22

Father had the stroke

I’ve already commented elsewhere but I’ll say it again. Just because science can do something doesn’t always mean they should. Women have a menopause for a reason, Mother Nature knows best.
