Mirena coil

Sorry posting on here for traffic.

Had Mirena coil fitted a week ago due to irregular and quite heavy periods. Had it on first day of AF so not sure what is normal AF bleeding and what is due to coil. Anyway the last few days I have been in quite a lot of pain all down one side and today the bleeding has increased and the pain feels like labour pains it’s so horrendous. I had heard horror stories but didn’t realise it would be this bad.

Is this normal one week in? What do I do now?

Best to go and get yourself checked out. Do you have a temperature?

Butterbeeeen · 07/09/2019 15:16

No I feel totally fine in myself just sore.

Go and get yourself checked out. It's better safe than sorry. Occasionally the coils can move and become implanted or perforate the uterus. I'd probably get that ruled out!

How are you doing now, OP?

Butterbeeeen · 08/09/2019 21:48

I feel much better today thank you. Going to ring nurse tomorrow for some advice just to be on the safe side.

Glad to hear you're improving.
Yes, checking with nurse probably wise.

Get your one checked. Had the same symptoms twice after the coil came out. Two Mirena’s, both came out.

Butterbeeeen · 10/09/2019 20:18

ITS GONE!!!

Went to see the nurse that inserted it and she removed it. It looks like it had fallen out of place and was sat just on top of my cervix causing the pain. What a relief.

I went to acupuncture to sort my peri menopausal periods out. Expensive but no drugs just needles so no risk of cancer and no ten day periods knackering me out every three weeks! Oh and it did work! She stopped the hot sweats at night too.

Butterbeeeen · 10/09/2019 21:04

Oh might look in to that thank you. A drug free approach is exactly what I am after.
